DECATUR WATER RATES TO INCREASE — The City of Decatur will raise water and wastewater rates later this year. The city council unanimously approved an ordinance that establishes a five-year rate increase plan Monday. The new rates will go into effect Oct. 1 and will be increased in increments each year through 2030. The rates approved Monday followed the recommendations from a NewGen Strategies and Solutions study into Decatur’s utility rates. The firm recommended incremental increases to catch up with inflation and to help align revenues with future capital improvement projects.
