
The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth has confirmed 12 tornadoes from the April 19 storms last weekend. Their graphic, above, shows locations and paths of the confirmed tornadoes.
One of 12 tornadoes confirmed from the April 19 storms did briefly enter the Crafton area in Wise County as part of last weekend’s weather event that left North Texas on high alert, according to the National Weather Service.
In the report released Sunday, the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth identified that the fourth tornado of the weather event caused scattered tree damage as it moved from Jack County across the Wise County line, near Cundiff Crafton Road at around 6:40 p.m.
“The tornado moved northeast, producing scattered tree damage before crossing the county line and dissipating in the vicinity of the community in far northwest Wise County,” according to the April 27 NWS public information statement.
The tornado was categorized as an EF-0, capable of producing up to 75 mph winds. It last for around five minutes, according to NWS, beginning at 6:38 p.m. and dissipating at around 6:43 p.m.
Wise County was placed under several radar-indicated tornado warnings throughout the evening of April 19. The initial warnings targeted the southwestern and northwestern corners of Wise County. The final warning of the night, issued around 11 p.m., included Decatur, Bridgeport, Paradise and Alvord after damage was reported north of Weatherford. No major structural damage has been reported in Wise County, except for one property near Boonsville.
