Speedy Sissies can't slow down Pirates in 71-65 semifinal loss

Decatur boys whipped by Glen Rose, 81-46
By Travis Measley | Published Sunday, March 1, 2009
Basketball is a fickle game. Some nights, the ball doesn't seem to find the hoop, it bounces the wrong way and the tough calls favor the opposition. On those nights, the other team seems to make every shot and get every break. The Decatur High School boys' basketball team faced one of those nights Thursday, running into a buzz saw against Glen Rose, falling to the Tigers 81-46 in the regional quarterfinals of the 3A playoffs.
Any questions?
Bridgeport delivers in crunch time to beat Decatur again
By Robert Morgan | Published Thursday, February 26, 2009
Three things were almost certain going into Tuesday night's Class 3A regional quarterfinal game between the Bridgeport and Decatur high school girls basketball teams - the Sissies would make their free throws, there would be more takedowns than a heavyweight fight and one Wise County team would be moving on to the regional tournament this weekend.

By Robert Morgan | Published Thursday, February 26, 2009
Facing the No. 4 team in the state in the opening round of the state basketball playoffs is a big enough challenge. But when you shoot just 18 percent from the floor in the first half, it makes a win even more improbable.

Bridgeport cruises to area title
By Travis Measley | Published Thursday, February 26, 2009
In its first game of the 2009 basketball playoffs, the Bridgeport High School girls' basketball team needed the first two quarters to shake the cobwebs off and get back into the flow of the game against Llano Friday. After a first-round bye, the Sissies came out slow, missing shots and getting into foul trouble, but turned up the intensity in the second half to throttle the Yellowjackets, 48-38, to advance to the regional quarterfinals.
