Fire heavily damaged the Boyd Kwik Stop about 6:30 p.m. yesterday. The convenience store and gas station, located on Texas 114 and Hitt St. in downtown Boyd, was enveloped in thick smoke when firemen arrived. Some flames were also showing. Boyd firemen were assisted by units from Rhome, Newark and Decatur. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes, and clean up efforts were under way within an hour. Wise County Fire Marshal Marc Dodd was called to the scene to investigate.
